With the explosive growth of devices connected and controlled by the internet in recent years, there’s no doubt of the Internet of Things (IoT) wireless technology opportunities available. From the first internet-connected appliance in 1982, the Coca-Cola vending machine. Which could report on inventory and whether newly loaded drinks were cold or not. To the current “smart home” craze in the customer market. We’re excited to be involved in this space and part of the future development of IoT.
While the easiest and simplest way to describe IoT is with the consumer market. Our expertise lies within the Telecommunications, Agriculture, Power Generation, Mining and Manufacturing markets. Having developed the devices and knowledge over a number of years we’re able to create a bespoke sensor network. This network can be customised per use case, creating opportunities for efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions.
The top three (3) wireless technologies we specialise in include NB-IoT (Narrowband IoT), Sigfox and LORAWAN. These are all low-power, wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies that are critical in the IoT space, depending on the use case.
Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT)
NB-IoT focuses on indoor coverage to enable efficient communication, low cost, long battery life, and high connection density. It significantly improves the power consumption of user devices, system capacity and spectrum efficiency, especially in deep coverage. Battery life of more than 10 years can be supported for a wide range of use cases.
Sigfox
A French global network operator that builds wireless networks to connect low-power, long-range objects in our physical world to the digital universe. It has been developed to supply wireless connectivity for devices such as remote sensors, actuators and other M2M and IoT devices. An example of how we’ve used Sigfox with our clients across multiple industries is as an asset tracking tool to track trailers and gensets.
LORAWAN
LORAWAN is an open protocol for WAN communications with a small message capacity. It relays messages between end-devices and a central network server. LORAWAN is good for running an isolated or private network on a farm or in a city. An example of how we’ve used LORAWAN with our clients within the Agricultural market is to track cattle. The range on a device is 10km with a battery life of up to a year.
Our capabilities extend across these three (3) popular wireless technology platforms. Not only can we connect to existing infrastructure and platforms but we’re able to offer our own gateways and information service that we sell as a packaged offering. This Data as a Service (DaaS) offering includes an IoT sensor network where you only pay for the data and subscription, providing a more affordable option.
Phoenix Intelligent Data offers a full service and unique application aimed at small to medium-sized enterprises. Our mature system has been developed and perfected over seven years guaranteeing quality performance and affordability. Get in touch to find out how we can support your business.
